Scoundrel on North Main Street keeps its Michelin star in the 2026 guide. Soby's, Jianna and The Anchorage stay on the list, along with Topsoil in Travelers Rest.

Scoundrel, the French restaurant at 18 N. Main St., is still Greenville’s only Michelin-starred restaurant. The 2026 MICHELIN Guide American South was revealed Wednesday night, and the guide’s South Carolina listings show Scoundrel with one star.

Three more Greenville restaurants stay in the guide as selected restaurants:

  • Soby’s, American
  • Jianna, Italian
  • The Anchorage, American

Topsoil Restaurant in Travelers Rest, about nine miles north, is also listed. All five were in last year’s first edition, according to Discover South Carolina, the state’s tourism office. None of the Greenville-area restaurants moved up or down this year.

What the guide added

Michelin announced the 2026 selection at a ceremony at The Pinnacle in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The guide now covers 265 restaurants across the region.

This year’s additions across the South:

  • three restaurants earned a first star: Dakar NOLA in New Orleans, So. Fox in Atlanta and Uberto in Gay, Georgia
  • 14 new Bib Gourmands, the guide’s good-value category, for 59 in all
  • 31 new selected restaurants

None of the three new stars went to South Carolina.

How South Carolina did

The state has 27 restaurants in the guide, up from 23 last year. Four hold a star: Scoundrel and three in Charleston (Vern’s, Malagón Mercado y Taperia and Wild Common). Four are Bib Gourmands, three in Charleston and one, Okàn, in Bluffton.

Charleston has 15 of the 27. Greenville, with four, is second.

A Greenville connection

The guide’s American arm has a local tie. Michelin North America, the tire maker’s U.S. business, is headquartered in Greenville, according to the company’s release.

What it means for you

  • Booking Scoundrel? It is a French restaurant in Michelin’s “$$$” price band, according to its guide listing.
  • A “selected” listing is not a lesser star. Michelin uses it for restaurants its inspectors recommend for good cooking, without a star or Bib Gourmand.
  • The full list of every South Carolina restaurant is on the Michelin Guide website.
