Five Greenville County Schools high schools with Greenville addresses field varsity football teams: the Greenville Red Raiders, the J.L. Mann Patriots, the Wade Hampton Generals, the Southside Tigers and the Carolina Academy Trojans. Christ Church Episcopal, a private school, also plays in the South Carolina High School League. Most games kick off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and regular-season play ends Oct. 30.

Greenville has won three straight, including a 31-17 win at J.L. Mann on Sept. 21 and region wins over Greer, 61-28, and Travelers Rest, 56-7. J.L. Mann opened 0-5 but has won both region games, 45-14 at Eastside and 35-24 over Hillcrest. Wade Hampton beat Southside 46-0 in its opener and has lost four straight since beating Blue Ridge on Sept. 11.
