Every public school in the City of Greenville belongs to Greenville County Schools, one district for the whole county. It ran 93 schools with 78,371 students in the 2023-24 school year, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. School zones do not follow city limits, so look up your address with the district’s Find Your School tool before you enroll.

Enrolling
The district enrolls students online. Create a Backpack account, open “Enroll A New Student” and follow the steps; the enrollment page has the student enrollment form, the enrollment survey and the residency affidavits for families who rent or live with a property owner. Kindergarten, first grade and 4K pre-registration have their own instructions on the same page.

School hours
According to the district’s school hours page:
- Elementary schools and 4K: 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
- Middle schools: 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- High schools: 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
On weather days the district may switch to eLearning. It posts the decision on its home page and social media and on the InfoLine, 864-355-3100.

A Greenville mailing address does not mean a school is inside the city limits, and your zoned school depends on your street. Each report card also shows test scores, graduation rates and school climate survey results. School board
The Board of Trustees holds regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except July, at 6 p.m. at the district office, 301 E. Camperdown Way, and meets as a Committee of the Whole on the second Tuesday at 9 a.m., according to its meeting portal. The next regular meeting falls on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Meetings are livestreamed on the district website, and the portal explains how to sign up for public comment. Find your board member with the county’s elected officials lookup.
