Where it is

This guide uses the city’s Hampton-Pinckney neighborhood engagement area, the boundary its police department uses for neighborhood work, which is larger than the historic district itself: about 0.3 square miles with roughly 900 residential addresses, all in ZIP code 29601 and all inside city limits. Most are units in apartment and townhouse buildings near the edges; the historic houses sit in the middle.

The engagement area overlaps the eastern edge of the city’s Southernside special emphasis neighborhood, which has its own page.

Because Hampton-Pinckney is a preservation overlay district, exterior changes to buildings go through the city’s design review. The Design Review Board page explains the process.
