South Carolina rates every public school each year as Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average or Unsatisfactory. The overall rating is built from indicators such as academic achievement, preparing for success, student progress, English learners’ progress and school climate, with graduation rate and college and career readiness added for high schools, according to the state’s report card site and the Education Oversight Committee’s accountability manuals.

Attendance zone
Check an address with the district’s Find Your School lookup. Greenville County Schools assigns students by subdivision, apartment complex and street address, and zones do not follow the city limits.
We ran 222 addresses spread across Greenville’s city limits through the lookup on Oct. 16; 27 were zoned for Blythe Academy.
In the district’s 2026-27 subdivision list, streets zoned for Blythe Academy go on to Hughes Academy, League Academy and Mauldin Middle for middle school and Greenville Senior High Academy, Southside High and Mauldin High for high school, most often the first named.
The subdivision list splits some Blythe streets by grade during the phase-in: in some areas Blythe takes second through fifth grade while A.J. Whittenberg, Augusta Circle or Sara Collins takes kindergarten and first grade, and in a few areas the reverse.
The Board of Trustees approved the student assignment plan for the new Reedy Laurel Elementary and other schools on Oct. 22, 2024, according to the district’s board summary. The district’s assignment plan page says the plan made 24 boundary changes and moved about 900 students, about 600 of them to Reedy Laurel. Elementary changes fill in one grade a year starting with kindergarten in 2025-26, so for now some streets are zoned to one school for the lower grades and another for the upper grades. The district’s Reedy Laurel packet lists Blythe Academy among the affected schools, a gain of 9 students based on 2023-24 enrollment.
Programs
Blythe Academy of Languages is one of Greenville County Schools’ magnet academies. The district’s magnet academies page says the program lets magnet students “participate in the partial immersion program and learn math science, and health in either French or Spanish.”
Magnet seats are open to students across the county by application through the Backpack parent portal. Applications are scored on attendance, discipline and academic performance, siblings of current magnet students have priority in the first round, and a lottery is used when more students qualify than there are seats, according to the same page.
